Philip Winham

Photographer, educator, and founder of Troveman

Over the last decade, Philip Winham’s career has taken him through weddings, portraiture, and commercial photography. But somewhere along the way, heirloom portraiture became one of the most meaningful parts of his work.

Drawing inspiration from traditional children’s portraiture, Philip developed his own approach to heirlooms, one that honors the history of these photographs while bringing a fresh perspective to how they’re created, presented, and enjoyed inside the home.

What started as a creative interest eventually became an entirely new way of thinking about his photography business. Rather than simply offering another session, Philip began building an experience around a finished product: a tangible photograph, thoughtfully edited, printed, and matted, with the intention of becoming part of a family’s home for generations.

As his heirloom work grew, so did the interest from other photographers wanting to learn his process. What began as a few conversations eventually developed into live educational intensives, where Philip shared everything from lighting and camera settings to editing, pricing, marketing, and delivering the finished product.

Those experiences ultimately laid the foundation for something much larger: Troveman.

For Philip, the heart behind it all has remained the same. A photograph shouldn’t just live in an online gallery or on someone’s phone. It should be printed, framed, enjoyed, and eventually passed down.

02What is Troveman?

Troveman (n.)

A keeper of what matters.

A Troveman is a keeper. A preserver of memories, a collector of stories, and someone who believes the people, places, and moments that shape our lives are worth holding onto.

Founded by photographer Philip Winham, Troveman was built on a simple belief: photographs are among the most meaningful things we leave behind. They become part of our family’s history, filling our homes with reminders of the people we’ve loved, the lives we’ve lived, and the moments we never want to forget.

Troveman exists to carry that belief forward. Through education, storytelling, and the creation of lasting heirlooms, our purpose is to inspire and equip others to preserve what matters most.

What begins with photography extends far beyond it. Troveman is about the art of remembering, the importance of preserving, and the responsibility we have to pass meaningful things on to the generations who come after us.
